Who's Who in Science and Engineering

Who's Who in Science and Engineeringから"you are being considered for inclusion"という手紙が来る。こういうのはやたらと来るがいかがわしいのでみな捨てていたが、googleで検索するとどうもこれに掲載されたことを「学術受賞」の欄に堂々と書いている日本人がいっぱいいる。例えば
[ここに書いてあったことで関係者の皆様にご不快をおかけしました。大変失礼いたしました]
なんて書いてある。これは本当に偉いことなんだろうか？しかし、なんで僕なんかにこんなのが来るんだろうか？僕はなにも「偉いこと」してませんが。ひょっとして、日本人の理工系の大学教員に片っ端からだしてるのかな？大体、"being considered for inclusion"なだけだし。よく解らない。どういう基準で候補者を選択しているのだろうか？まあ、金がかかるわけでもなさそうだから、とりあえず、返事しておくか。
